Description
ENHANCING THE HOME
Situated within walking distance of Shenley Toot and the woods, the property is believed to have been built in 1991. The work carried out by the current owners since then has significantly increased its size, while also enhancing the flow between its internal spaces. “We extended the house across two storeys,” she explains. “This allowed us to enlarge the sitting room and create a huge utility room, which I just love because I can now shut the door and keep the kitchen tidy. We also added two additional bedrooms, extended the main bathroom? Other work saw us convert the conservatory into a garden room, with a proper roof; fit a new kitchen and redecorate throughout. A new central heating system and boiler were also installed and we converted half of the garage into an office space/storage room.”
NATURAL LIGHT
The house, which has been finished in neutral shades throughout, has a bright, airy ambience. The sitting room is especially spacious and filled with natural light. “This now has three windows and is a fantastic place to spend time with guests,” She observes. “On a daily basis, however, we tend to be in the open-plan kitchen dining room, which flows through to the garden room.” This beautiful space has been well designed for food preparation, family dining and relaxation. The modern kitchen, which leads into the utility room, features handless units, compact laminate work surfaces and a breakfast bar. There is ample space for a table and chairs as well as comfortable seating. “The utility room and garden room both open into the garden,” she adds. “It is lovely to sit in the garden room on warm days, with the double doors open so we can wander in and out.”
INDOOR-OUTDOOR LIVING
This contemporary living area is also wonderful for entertaining. “We have had many parties here, both inside and out,” she remembers. “The garden is not huge but it is a good size for family gatherings and celebrations. We have a summer house where it is nice to sit and have a cup of coffee.” The south / west-facing garden enjoys the afternoon and early evening sunshine. “The flow between the garden room and the garden works very well during the warmer months of the year.” The office within the former garage space could suit someone working from home but could also be ideal for new owners seeking a hobby area.
VERSATILE SPACE
The first floor of the house also offers great flexibility. Here, the current owners have a work space on the very generous landing. This could also make a good library area. “We decided to do this rather than to have a fifth bedroom, but it would be very easy for someone to put a wall up if they require another bedroom,” she suggests. There are three especially large bedrooms plus a smaller room. The master bedroom has an en-suite shower room and there is a family bathroom. Three of the bedrooms, including the master look out to the front of the property.
LOVELY LOCATION
One of the greatest pleasures in life for the current owners is stepping straight out of the house to head off on a walk. “There are so many beautiful places you can get to from here,” she says. “At the same time, we are just five minutes from central Milton Keynes, with good access to shops, the train station and major roads.” She continues: “Living here has been ideal for us and our family and we will be sorry to leave. This house, with all its space, has been great for our children and grandchildren and we know other people will now enjoy it as much as we have done.”
