Description
THE PROPERTY
1 Greenhayes is a delightful chalet style two storey home situated in a quiet cul de sac just a 10-minute walk to the beach and village with all amenities to hand. It is nestled in the centre of its corner plot offering a great deal of privacy, with the most wonderful view from every room to the dramatic and rugged coastline.
The house, built circa 1968 of reconstituted stone-faced elevations under a tiled roof, has been the subject of much improvement by the current owners who have adapted the space to make the very most of its fantastic position, with every room having a slightly different view to the sea.
As you would expect, its South facing position makes for a very light and bright house with a peaceful ambience. A generous reception hall leads into the main reception room; a superb open plan living space with ample room to dine, relax, and entertain. It has a cosy sitting area centred around a wood burning stove to one side, with ample room for a dining table to the other, with a large picture window looking out to sea. This room is now open plan to the kitchen, which sits behind, whilst fully enjoying all the same views and making for a very sociable place to gather with family and friends alike.
Leading from the kitchen, the former garage has been cleverly converted into a very generous studio with utility area to one end, and a delightful conservatory to the other, taking full advantage of the views to the sea and the Marshwood Vale. Sliding doors lead out onto an attractive paved terrace with pergola over – a great spot for afternoon tea. Planning consent has been granted for a fourth bedroom above this if required.
There is also a generous double bedroom with ensuite bathroom on the ground floor, once again with stunning views to the coast.
The first floor does not disappoint, with a principal bedroom with ensuite bathroom to one side, and a further double bedroom to the other, currently used as a study. The views at this level are even more incredible, taking in Portland, Stonebarrow, the Golden Cap as well as the beach itself.
OUTSIDE
Nestled in the centre of its corner plot, extending to approx. 1/3rd acre, the gardens here are a true delight with access via a 5-bar gate to a long driveway with ample room for a garage (STPC). The front gardens are very well established with a variety of specimen trees including Oak, Beech, Bay, and Sumac which make up a small, wooded area complete with its own woodland walk taking in the glorious coastal views. The rear garden, with a good-sized garden shed, affords a great deal of privacy from neighbouring properties and enjoys a South facing position with many places for full sun or shade. It is mainly laid to lawn and interspersed with a variety of shrubs and plants including Gingko Biloba, Liquidambar, Clematis, Rowan, Myrtle, Clerodendron, Amelanchier, Spindleberry, Cotoneaster, and winter flowering Honeysuckle to name but a few; providing a riot of scent and colour throughout the seasons. There is also a sunny paved terrace that leads out from the principal reception room, complete with pergola and adorned with Wisteria.
All in all, this would make the most wonderful residence in this most desirable coastal village.
