Description

Spring Cottage is a detached house set in its own plot on the edge of Great Horwood with lovely gardens and gravel off street parking for multiple cars. Approached via a shared and then private driveway the house is set back with a pretty cottage garden in front of it and a large lawned garden at the opposite end with open countryside beyond. The house has a period charm with its thatched roof but was actually re built approximately 23 years according to modern standards such as a steel framed roof and double glazing throughout. Built in a conservation area the house and neighbouring ones all have a similar character.

Accommodation

The accommodation is 3419 sq ft arranged over two floors and is flexible in terms of use as there is the possibility of using one end of the house as a self contained two bedroom annexe as it has its own entrance and separate parking space. So ideal for guests, family members or to provide a rental income. The main part of the house has four bedrooms on the first floor , all with en suites, and one on the ground floor off the kitchen area which could be used for a different purpose. The stable stye front door opens on to a wide entrance hallway with a ceramic floor and a staircase to the first floor. Doors open on to the kitchen diner on one side which is fitted with shaker style units and has a window over the sink with a view of the garden. There is an Aga, pull out fridge drawers, tall larder units and space for another free standing fridge freezer. There is ample space for a large dining table and chairs and gazed doors overlook the rear patio. There is a door to a utility room which houses the oil fired boiler and plumbing for a washing machine and dishwasher. There are double doors also opening on to the front patio and a opening to a room which is currently a bedroom with en suite. The main siting room on the other side of the hallway is 31 ft long with double glass doors leading to a library room and a door to a large study. There is a log burner to one end of the sitting room and windows overlook the garden at the front. A smaller sitting room or snug is also located off the hallway. Upstairs there is a spacious landing with shelving and loft access which has doors to four bedrooms all with en suites. The right hand end of the house  which could be partitioned off has a separate staircase with two bedrooms on the ground floor and one on the first. This could be adapted to create a sitting room and kitchen on the ground floor.

Outside

The keen gardener won't be disappointed with the outside as there's an abundance of plants and flowers and gardens of two different styles. One is enclosed and private with numerous flower beds and a pagoda over an outside dining area so perfect for entertaining and a south facing sun trap. The large garden is perfect for croquet on the lawn or for children running around. There is a shed for storage and the current owners have applied for planning permission to build a double garage.
