Description

An enchanting and superbly located three bedroomed cottage with an annexe and exceptional rural views on the edge of lover and the new forest.

The Old Dairy is a picture perfect period cottage positioned on a quiet village road with no close by neighbours. The property is of stone construction under a part thatch part tiled roof. It has been in the same ownership for 35 years and during this time the owners have made a number of improvements including a former cowshed being rebuilt as an annexe adjacent to the cottage. The property sits on a plot of around 0.4 acres and has wonderful rural views over paddocks on three sides. Internally it has an entrance hall which doubles as a study and has a staircase to the first floor with exposed beams and timbers. The sitting room has a duel aspect with bay window and attractive brick fireplace. The dining room also has a duel aspect with a brick fireplace. The kitchen has a selection of base and wall mounted storage, stainless steel sink and electric free standing oven. A walk-in larder houses the boiler and has space for a washing machine. The ground floor also has a rear lobby and a bathroom with panelled bath, WC and wash hand basin. The first floor has a large master bedroom with a cloak room and built in wardrobes. Bedroom 2 is a large double with a sink. Bedroom 3 is single or study. The adjacent annexe was rebuilt in 1993 and offers a large living space with kitchenette, a bathroom, store and a conservatory with lovely views over the garden. This living space is highly versatile and is ideal for a dependent relative or as a complement to the living space for the cottage. The property is surrounded by mature and attractive gardens and benefits from a 664 square feet historic barn which can easily fit 3 cars and makes a superb workshop.

The Old Dairy is situated on the peaceful rural outskirts of the village of Lover, which is tucked inside the upper Northernmost boundary of the New Forest National Park. Lover and neighbouring Redlynch and Woodfalls provide a range of local facilities including the Lover and Redlynch pre-school, a primary school, village shop, churches and a popular public house The Kings Head in Redlynch. The larger village of Downton (approx. 2 miles) offers further amenities including local shops, primary and secondary schooling and health and leisure facilities. The Cathedral City of Salisbury is approximately 9 miles to the North and offers more extensive facilities and mainline rail services to London (Waterloo). The M27 is easily accessed via the A36 for Southampton and the M3 beyond, and there are further mainline rail services from Southampton Parkway.

The Old Dairy has beautifully maintained gardens which have been lovingly cared for by its owners. A brick path edged by flower borders and lawn leads from a gate to the front door. There are extensive lawn spaces on all side of the property. There are number of productive and well stocked flower borders with a number of specimen trees and shrubs. There is ample off-road parking through double gates in front of a beautiful triple bay barn with large cart doors offering space to park 3 cars. There is power and lighting and is highly versatile building making it ideal as work shop or hobby area.
