Description

Castle Fields is an impressive estate lying in a strategic setting on the north western edge of Buckingham. With access from the iconic Stowe Avenue, Castle Fields includes a grand unlisted period house which offers well proportioned rooms over two floors, extensive gardens and grounds including a swimming pool and tennis court.

Furthermore, there are three cottages which are currently let and a self contained flat.

Castle Fields House
Castle Fields is an impressive unlisted period country house. A grand front door welcomes you into a striking entrance hall, featuring a large window overlooking the front lawn, a comfortable sitting area, and a well-appointed bar.

From the entrance hall, doors lead to an elegant dining room, which also enjoys a large front-facing window, high ceilings, and ornate cornicing. The hall further leads to a study with a fireplace and delightful views over the garden. From here, steps descend to a spacious dual-aspect sitting room, complete with an ornate ceiling and a large fireplace.

To the rear of the property, you’ll find a charming farmhouse-style kitchen, offering views across an enclosed Mediterranean-style courtyard, as well as a utility room, pantry, and downstairs cloakroom.

A grand staircase leads to the first floor where it divides in two. In total, there are five double bedrooms each with high ceilings and generous proportions. Each of the bedrooms benefit from views over the gardens and grounds. The property also includes three bathrooms and an additional shower room. The principal bedroom benefits from a dressing room, which could easily be converted into a sixth bedroom if desired. The house also features a cellar, including a wine store and an additional store room.

Gardens and Grounds
The house is approached from iconic Stowe Avenue, and via a long private drive. The sweeping driveway forks to the left to take you to the farm buildings and continues straight on, leading you through stone gate pillars with decorative wrought iron electric gates. Beyond here is the impressive facade of Castle Fields house, the drive meanders to the side of the house, bordered with a clipped yew hedge.

The front garden is largely laid to lawn with mature trees and shrubs. To the west is a lawn tennis court with stone pillar surround and ornamental pond. There is a timber BBQ Hut/Summer House by Arctic Cabins with open BBQ to the centre and seating for up to 10 people. There are a number of mature shrubs in the borders of the front lawn, including a leather leaf viburnum, barberry and holly.
The lawn is under sewn with spring bulbs and there is a decorative pond with water feature.

To the rear of the house is a courtyard with a Mediterranean feel, it has planted borders and is well suited to alfresco dining with a BBQ area to one end. Adjacent to this is a useful store room known as ‘The Dairy’.

Adjacent to the house is a walled garden with pleached apple trees, glasshouse and greenhouse, this area is partially laid to lawn with large beds and a potting shed. Beyond here is a large brick building which was formerly used to keep chickens.

Beyond the drive is a sunken garden with views across the paddocks beyond. It includes covered swimming pool, pond which attracts wildlife, mature trees and clipped yew hedge. The garden is predominantly laid to lawn with borders filled with shrubs including azaleas and rhododendrons. There’s an outdoor stone BBQ area and former pumphouse providing two changing rooms.
