Description - A Hidden Architectural Gem spanning over approx 4500 sq ft. Tucked discreetly behind a mature tree-lined approach, North Avenue presents a rare opportunity to own an architecturally striking residence set within one of the area’s most desirable and discreet addresses. With approx 4,500 sq ft of exceptional living space and a plot wrapped in lush greenery, this five-bedroom home is a masterclass in contemporary family living.
Upon entering the home, you are greeted by an impressive vaulted hallway, bathed in natural light from the striking apex window above. The entrance sets the tone for what lies beyond, a home of scale, elegance, and thoughtful design.
To your left, a bedroom suite is tucked away in its own peaceful wing, a generous double bedroom with views onto the garden, a spacious dressing room. Nearby, a second double bedroom and separate family bathroom offer ideal accommodation for multi functional living.
Moving through the hall, you pass useful storage before stepping into the breathtaking heart of the home, the vast open-plan kitchen/living/dining room. This space stretches across the rear of the house and is framed by full-width bi-folding doors that seamlessly connect indoors to the sun-soaked entertaining terrace. A practical utility room and pantry are positioned conveniently off the kitchen.
The kitchen itself is a statement in design and function with a large central island, quartz worktops, banks of integrated cabinetry and high end appliances which include Neff ovens, Neff hob, a wine fridge and a fridge/freezer.
Furthermore, a separate study offers a quiet work-from-home space, perfectly positioned with garden views. A second utility room offer practical use, particularly if you have a dog!
Back to the entrance hall a door leads into a self-contained annexe comprising a comfortable living room, kitchen, a further bedroom and its own rear garden. This space is ideal for extended family, or an independent teenager seeking privacy.
Ascending the stairs to the first floor, you will find two generous double bedrooms both offering en suite facilities. and both storage and charming sloped ceilings with large windows offering leafy views. A large dressing room provides excellent storage with bespoke cabinetry. The landing itself features striking panelled walls and generous proportions which creates usable space.
The highlight upstairs is the vaulted playroom/lounge, an atmospheric space with dramatic ceiling lines and a built-in bar area perfect for movie nights, teenage hangouts, or even a creative studio.
Externally, the home is enveloped by mature trees and beautifully landscaped gardens, creating complete privacy. The large rear terrace, accessed from the main living space, is perfect for summer gatherings, while the wide driveway provides ample parking to the front.
Seller’S Story - We were delighted to purchase North Avenue back in 2017. Already a beautiful dorma bungalow built in tranquil, wrap round gardens. We fell in love with the greenery, the wildlife of the gardens and the peaceful tree lined streets that feel like a secluded enclave tucked away within the bustle of the city. The locality of the Avenues makes a wonderful place to live, with excellent schools on the doorstep, community parks full of families and local amenities within walking distance.
Although the bungalow needed renovating we saw its potential to be a beautiful, versatile family home. Once in, we set about refurbishing the house to create a space that sought to incorporate as much of the mature gardens as possible. We built an extension, creating a new kitchen and dining space that has been the heart of many a family meal. A wonderful bar and entertaining area that hosted the children’s 18 and 21st birthdays, its often bursting with their laughter and friends, and has been the site of many, slightly more peaceful family movie nights (definitely the children’s favourite room!). We also added a master bedroom with three large Velux windows designed to maximise the view of the trees. Lying in bed really feels as though your relaxing in a tree house, we have loved watching the seasons pass through those windows. My favourite room has to be the dressing room, not only for its functionality but because it was a real indulgence that was on my wish list before moving into the house. The annex has given us the privilege and peace of mind of living with our mother, with the added benefit of an onsite babysitter!
Living in North Avenue has truly been a delight, a place where the children have had space to be independent and comfortable and a space where our family and friends love to gather. We’ve felt privileged to live amongst our neighbours who create a real sense of community and safety. It was difficult decision to sell and one we kept putting off! but with the older children now leaving home we really feel the house deserves to be full again, so we’ve decided to downsize in the hope another family fills it with more joyful memories.
