Description

A stone built farmhouse surrounded by unspoiled views, on the outskirts of the town which, in parts, date back to the 1600's. A wonderful family home with a wealth of generous living accommodation including three reception rooms and kitchen diner with gas fired AGA. Although not listed, the home boasts a huge array of attractive features including exposed ceiling beams, window seats, stone mullioned windows, fireplaces and original pine doors.
The living accommodation is complimented by four generous bedrooms, each offering delightful views over the surrounding countryside and the master bedroom benefiting from an ensuite shower room and walk in wardrobe.
The property is accessed via a long sweeping drive through neighbouring fields, shared by four properties, arriving at a courtyard and private driveway leading to the garage. Adjoining the property are well manicured formal gardens mainly laid to lawn interspersed by mature flowerbeds, trees and shrubs. There are a number of outbuildings with various uses and grazing land which includes a natural swimming pool fed by a brook.

In a little more detail, the accommodation on offer comprises an entrance porch opening into the kitchen diner which has a range of units and gas fired AGA providing a cosy heat source to the adjacent rooms. The sitting room looks out over the courtyard to the front and has impressive ceiling beams and the beautiful stone mullioned windows which are a feature throughout the ground floor. A hallway has the staircase leading to the first floor and also gives access to the downstairs WC and utility room with storage cupboards and plumbing for washing machine. Steps lead from the kitchen diner into the dining room which has a large window with window seat overlooking the side garden. This in turn opens into the lounge which is an incredible space, converted from a former barn and with a vaulted ceiling, doors opening into the garden and inglenook fireplace.
The first floor has a galleried landing family bathroom, master bedroom with ensuite and walk in wardrobe and three additional well proportioned bedrooms, each overlooking the surrounding countryside.
Outside continues to impress with formal gardens wrapping around the side and rear of the house with a number of seating areas, garden laid to lawn with flowerbeds, trees and shrubs. There is a spacious double garage with first floor storage, stone built and brick built outbuildings and a timber summerhouse providing a number of uses. Along with gardens, there are also two fields of grazing land and a man-made pond used as a natural swimming pool fed by the brook.
LOCATION
Chapel-en-le-Frith, known as 'The Capital of the Peak' nestles in an upland valley in the High Peak and is surrounded by dramatic landscape of gritstone ridges and shapely hills. The town takes its name from a small chapel built in 1225 by the keepers of the Royal Forest that is now the Church of St Thomas Becket, where 1,500 Scottish soldiers were imprisoned during the Civil War. The historic town centre also features a traditional marketplace which still has its original renowned stocks which the local cafe takes its name. A common phrase you here many resident say is "We are so lucky to live here" even after living in the town for decades. That is further, solid evidence, if ever it was needed that Chapel-en-le-Frith and its surrounding towns and villages are an excellent place to set up home.
