Seller Insight:

What is your favourite room of the house and why?

The downstairs living space. It has been perfect for us, giving the ability to entertain and cook all at the same time. It’s also superb on warmer days to open the bifold doors and hear the birds singing in the hedge bordering the garden. We have had several great gatherings here including our wedding reception just coming out of lockdown when restrictions were relaxing! The space was also perfect when we had our daughter, as you can cook and keep a close eye on what she’s doing.

Who do you think would be the next ideal owner?

Either a family looking for the next home to grow into, with 4 good sized bedrooms and a separate snug on the landing for those that argue about what to watch on television! Or someone looking to downsize to a home that is manageable but with a larger than average garden for a new build property.

What do you love most about the house and why?

The space that the house gives us. It has been perfect for us to grow our family and entertain in. We have held some large gatherings, and the house has coped incredibly well. People always comment on the downstairs space, which although is large can also become cosy when the log burner is lit, and all the blinds are closed.
What do you love about the local community?
Everyone is friendly and loves to chat or say hello. We have a great town councillor who goes above and beyond and listens to anyone’s concerns. The town also host lots of regular events over the course of the year. (Calne annual bike meet, Duck Race, Christmas light switch on & Party on the pitch to name a few!) There are also to great pubs and restaurants locally too and it’s only a 10-minute walk into the centre of town from the house.

How easy is it to commute from here?

Super easy! I work in Bristol and can get there within 50 minutes and my wife works in Cheltenham and can get there within the hour. The M4 junctions 17 and 16 are only a 20-minute drive away.

What made you choose this property over others that were available at the time?

The style of the house, it’s incredibly modern and so different to anything available. The sheer amount of glazing and the zinc cladding on the side and the roof stood out to us. As did the open plan space downstairs and its eco credentials, with its solar panels on the roof. The development in general also appealed as it’s only small too with circa 23 homes on it, so has minimal traffic flowing in it. You can also step out of the door for a walk with the dog and head to the local nature reserve.
