History
88All Saints Road (No, 1 Glenfall Terrace)
With the benefit of all the original Title Deeds, Wills and Conveyance documents we can trace the ownership of the land back to 1839 when 11 acres of the Pittville estate was sold to a Edward Cope - a local speculative builder.
The first plot then known as No 1 Glenfall Terrace was built in 1849 and the remaining 5 plots were gradually built over a number of years.
Many interesting families lived at No 1 - local business tradesmen and often with lodgers. In 1911 a Miss Emily Platt lodged here until her death in 1929 as a School Teacher and most notably as the Secretary of the Local Women’s Suffragette Society (p41’Votes for Women Cheltenham & the Cotswolds’ by Sue Jones ),
In 1959 Glenfall Terrace was re-numbered and became part of All Saints Road.
In the 1980’s it was a well-known focal point with bright blue & yellow sunbursts painted on the side wall by two Art Students who were renting the flat at that time.
