Gracefully nestled within the charming village of Oldbury-on-Severn, The Rectory is a
truly magnificent former rectory that effortlessly blends period elegance with modern
country living. Set within approximately 2.02 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds,
this five-bedroom residence offers an exceptional level of space and character, both
inside and out.

Approached via a gated gravel driveway, the home immediately presents an air of grandeur and privacy. Stepping through the porch into the impressive entrance hall, the home's heritage comes to life. Original flooring, unique alcoves, and high ceilings whisper stories of the past, while light streams in through large sash windows throughout.

The ground floor is anchored by three stunning reception rooms, each with its own personality: a formal drawing room, a further informal sitting room, and a gracious dining roomall boasting ornamental fireplaces and views across the gardens. The bespoke kitchen, with its central Aga, evokes a true sense of countryside homeliness and is perfectly complemented by a utility room, boot room, and a versatile plate room ideal as a large traditional pantry and lavatory.

Upstairs, the sense of scale continues. The first floor hosts five generously sized bedrooms, each with unique charm and delightful views. Two well-appointed family bathrooms serve this floor, while one bedroom benefits from its own en suite, making it equally well-suited for luxurious family living or holiday let accommodation. The second floor opens to a partially converted attic space with two additional rooms and ample storage perfect for a home office, art studio, or additional bedrooms.

The picturesque village of Oldbury-on-Severn, located in South Gloucestershire, offers a timeless English countryside experience. Steeped in rural charm, the village is situated along the banks of the River Severn and is surrounded by rolling fields, winding lanes, and an abundance of wildlife. A tight knit community flourishes here supported by a well -regarded primary school, a thriving community shop, an excellent local pub, a church and a village hall.

Despite its tranquil setting, Oldbury-on-Severn remains conveniently located for commuters, with easy access to Bristol, Gloucester, and the M4 and M5 motorways and the historic town of Thornbury with castle and excellent local schools.

Outside, the grounds offer an unparalleled lifestyle opportunity. The meticulously maintained gardens include an astro turf tennis court bordered by lavender, a well established orchard, and a heated outdoor swimming pool with electric cover ideal for entertaining, recreation, or relaxation. A detached garage, adjacent hayloft, and stabling potential are set around a charming courtyard and provide significant scope for further development, subject to planning.

Seller Insight
We searched for four years before we found The Rectory. Leaving London, we longed for somewhere peaceful, somewhere that felt like home the moment we arrived. We had almost given up when we drove up to The Rectory. The silence was the first thing we noticedprofound, enveloping. A hawk hovered over the front garden, and we just knew. This was a house with soul. Its symmetry and grace, the generous proportions of every room, the sash windows with original glass catching the light, the view to the Cotswolds and over the old church wallit felt timeless. A home that had stood for generations, solid and true.

Since then, we have gently restored the old rectory, always mindful to honour its spirit. We re-laid antique Welsh slate floors, added a shower room, and gave the kitchen a heart: a beloved AGA, bespoke cabinet. In the attic, we laid new floors for the children to play. Outside, we added a swimming pool, and a tennis court returned to its Victorian location.

Indeed, the outdoor space has as much to offer as the house itself. The orchard teems with birds - woodpeckers, pheasants, and sometimes a barn owl. Spring brings early plums, and the vegetable garden always offers something to harvest. Every corner of this place is alive. Our children ran wild here too, free to explore the gardens.

This is the ideal home for everyday life and entertaining alike, from Halloween parties and bonfires to christenings and, as the children got older, camping parties with friends in the garden. This place is truly woven into our lives our daughter was married here, friends spilling from the church into the garden.

We shall miss everything about The Rectory: sitting on the south-facing doorstep enjoying the first scent of cut grass in spring; writing books at the kitchen table; watching light move across the rooms. This is more than a house, it is a refuge, a place that welcomes and holds you, a rare, magical home that truly becomes part of you.
