Description

A modern yet characterful five-bedroom family home set in spectacular gardens of about ten acres, in a pretty North Wiltshire setting.

Description

Dauntsey Fields Farm was built in 2004 by a renowned local developer, yet has the charm and character of a much older house: exposed brick detail, vaulted ceilings with oak beams, stone and wood floors and a stunning brick fireplace provide a cosy, country feel.

This is complemented by an elegant and traditional décor scheme, adding a neutral colour scheme highlighted with pops of heritage colour, and a stunning farmhouse-style kitchen with a fabulous butcher’s block island and a coveted AGA. Great care and attention has been taken over the house, inside and out, with a high level of attention to detail.

The light-filled rooms feel fantastically spacious, and large windows providing excellent natural light while looking out over the surrounding farmland and the house’s own beautifully landscaped gardens. The entire ground floor is warmed by underfloor heating while the sitting room has the added benefit of a charming wood-burning stove.

The ground floor is generously proportioned and has excellent flow, with the large reception spaces leading off a central hallway. The sitting room and games room are connected by double doors, creating a fabulous open plan space for entertaining, while the kitchen, dining and family room is also open plan and perfect for relaxed family meals. There is also a home office, cloakroom and a utility room. Upstairs there are three bedrooms on the first floor, including two en suite, plus a family bathroom; the second floor has two additional bedrooms and a separate shower room. All of the bedrooms are double size.

Outside
Dauntsey Fields Farm enjoys a fantastically private setting tucked away behind an imposing gated entrance (complete with intercom), with a long driveway winding up through park-like grounds to a large gravel parking area to the front of the house. Beautiful specimen trees dot the rolling grounds, and the front of the property has been planted with an impressive wisteria and rose beds.

The surrounding land extends to about 10 acres, including an acre of gardens, plus paddocks with an additional gated roadside entrance – there is a potential for equestrian use or as a smallholding. The gardens to the side and rear are enclosed and include a secluded courtyard-style seating area, a number of terraces and a pergola, with a summerhouse perfectly placed to enjoy lovely views over the gardens.

The driveway continues alongside the house to a further generous parking area and a detached workshop with separate gated entrance from roadside, offering fantastic potential for a variety of uses. Additionally, there is planning permission for a second 75ft x 30ft garage/workshop. There is an additional 10 acres of paddock adjoining the property which is available by separate negotiation.

Location

Dauntsey is a small, picturesque North Wiltshire village on the banks of the river Avon, surrounded by glorious scenery. The village has a farm shop, with more extensive amenities found locally in the surrounding villages, including Primary schools in Dauntsey, Brinkworth and Great Somerford.

The village is located between the larger centres of Royal Wootton Bassett (6 miles), Malmesbury (6.2 miles) and Chippenham (8.2 miles) with supermarkets and day-to-day stores. The general area is very popular for equestrian pursuits and there are many footpaths and bridleways to explore on foot.

The village offers access to the M4 Motorway at either junctions 16 or 17, giving good access to the commercial centres of Swindon and Bristol. Mainline rail services are available from either Chippenham or Swindon, with services to London Paddington in around 55 minutes. There are many highly regarded local primary and secondary schools locally as well as a wide choice of well-known private schools within easy reach.
