Description

A wonderful example of mid-century architecture which has been sympathetically renovated, this three-bedroom house sits beautifully within a landscaped wrap-around garden in a quiet residential location. The property, of 1017 sq. ft (94.48 sq. m), is stylishly presented and features single-storey accommodation with the emphasis on light and comfort. The property is also extremely economic to run with Council Tax band C and EPC band C.

Accommodation comprises;

living room, kitchen; utility room, three bedrooms (one of which currently used a study), bathroom, garden and ample parking.

Designed by Glynn Hollister in 1960 and built by Reades of Aldeburgh, the house was renovated recently by the current owners to a particularly high standard, including a new roof, aluminium double glazed windows and a hand made plywood kitchen.

Located on Linden Close, the house is accessed over a shingle drive, with ample parking. On entering the house there is a generous entrance hall. To the right, there is a sizeable living room (22’11 x 19’) with ceiling height windows on one side, this space is open-plan including the dining room and kitchen. The dining area opens onto a south-facing decked terrace area, benefitting from all day sun. The living room also features original five finger oak parquet flooring and a ‘Scan 66’ wood-burning stove for when the nights draw in.

The three bedrooms are on the northern side of the house. The guest bedroom / dressing room is fitted with built-in wardrobes. The second bedroom, a spacious and bright dual aspect room which is currently used as a study.

The ‘pièce de résistance, is certainly the garden which through clever landscape design, offers shingle areas with herbaceous borders, an expanse of lawn, a decked terrace area (perfect for al fresco dining) and a raised kitchen garden, yielding vegetables and asparagus.

Linden Close is a desirable, quiet and leafy residential road around a mile to the north west of Aldeburgh’s high street, within a short cycle or drive of the town’s amenities. Convenient for the town, but also a short walk away from the river Alde at Brick Dock, as well as the golf club and for walks along the old railway track to Thorpeness.

Aldeburgh is renowned as one of Suffolk’s most attractive coastal towns, with superb walks, sailing and golf on the doorstep. Snape Maltings, home of the internationally renowned Aldeburgh Music Festival, is around five miles away and Saxmundham railway station is approximately fifteen minutes away by car, with connections to London’s Liverpool Street.
