Description
This elegant early Victorian family home has been tastefully extended and upgraded by the present owners creating a lovely warm and calm ambience from the moment you walk through the front door. The internal modernisation of the home has been cleverly designed throughout to blend the old original features with a new contemporary finish providing a beautiful contrast between the two.
Within the main accommodation of the home you are met by a fantastic open plan kitchen/dining room which is very sociable and practical for entertaining, whether it be with friends or family. The kitchen is fully fitted with appliances and also has double doors leading out to the rear patio garden. On the first floor there is a gorgeous drawing room with a striking front bay and an open fire place. There is also a double bedroom and a study on this floor. On the second floor is a master bedroom with an en-suite shower room, another double bedroom and a large family bathroom with sea views. The third floor has a double bedroom. This floor gives access to two roof terraces which are among this homes most desirable features. One terrace faces east with roof top and sea views and the other faces west, again with both roof top and sea views. It really is a place to enjoy those summer mornings and evenings.
The property also has a self-contained one bedroom apartment on the lower ground floor of this building, which benefits from its own street entrance, giving the option to either rent or accommodate friends and family when they come to stay.

Location History
Norfolk Road is an historic thoroughfare which lies within the site of the original settlement of Brighthelmston, a medieval village which once occupied the area between Western Road to the south and the Seven Dials to the north. Most of the subsequent development hereabouts was between 1820 and 1860, inspired by Dr Russell’s development of the Chalybeate spring into the famous St Ann’s Well spa during the 1760s and compounded by the attendance of the Prince Regent in the 1790s. As Brighton grew in popularity, development spread outwards along the northern stretches of what is today Western Road. Laid out in the late Regency era, around 1820, Norfolk Road today forms part of the Clifton Hill Conservation Area, and still contains some buildings of the 1830s at its southern end. By the 1840s this entire area was known as Montpelier, in honour of the French spa town, and was the most fashionable part of Brighton, with outstanding examples of Regency and Victorian architecture, including No30, which dates approximately from the 1850s. The gentle slopes of the area to the sea, away from the fumes of the railway yet still convenient for the new Brighton station, attracted the most fashionable early residents who took occupation for the Season, taking the sea air, strolling along the promenades and dipping in the sea – activities as popular today as they were over 170 years ago.
