Our dedicated Lettings team is led by George Thornton, an experienced, ARLA qualified agent with a customer focused approach and a desire to go above and beyond for everyone he encounters.

George boasts over a decade of experience in Lettings alone covering all of Bournemouth and Christchurch. Duanne recently joined our Lettings department as a Property Manager, bringing with her a wealth of experience in the property sector.

Her career began with a small, family-run business in London, where she worked as a Property Sourcing Specialist. This hands-on experience sparked her passion for property, and she quickly transitioned into Property Management, successfully overseeing a large portfolio of properties.

Throughout her career, Duanne has honed her problem-solving abilities and developed a reputation for delivering high standards and professionalism, no matter the challenge. Her dedication to excellence makes her a valuable asset to the team.

Outside of work, Duanne enjoys spending quality time with family and friends, exploring new cooking styles, and travelling to new destinations.

When William first joined our team, fresh out of college, he took charge of our social media operations, marking the beginning of his professional journey. Since then, he has not only played a pivotal role in expanding our business but has also been actively broadening his expertise in the field of lettings alongside George (Thornton, Lettings Manager).

Outside of work, William has a diverse range of interests. He enjoys hitting the gym to stay fit, teeing off on the golf course, and indulging in video games during his leisure time.

Some good ideas for buyers

1. Speak with your mortgage consultant to arrange the best loan to suit your needs.

2. Prepare a short list of locations that suit your lifestyle. Keep in mind affordability and accommodation requirements.

3. Research sales in those preferred areas using The Dorset Echo, The Dorset Magazine and Rightmove House Prices. Ask for local knowledge. Inspect every property in your preferred area so you have a feel for the price

4. Develop a relationship with one of our Property Consultants here at Meyers Estate Agents specialising in your personal property search. The agent will be able to offer additional advice and also alert you to new listings before they reach the media.

5. When you find a property that suits your requirements, ask your agent to send a copy of the memo of sale contracts to your solicitor or conveyancer.

6. We recommend that you arrange a Home Buyers Survey to make you aware of any major defects and pest concerns eg: wood boring insects, damp.

7. Following your solicitors or conveyancers advice on the sale contract and taking into consideration the building and pest reports, you are now able to make an informed decision to proceed with an exchange on the property and arrange moving dates through the legal teams. Exchange usually happens about a week or two before completion.

8. If you are bidding at an auction, we recommend you read the Office of Fair Trading's "Bidder's Guide" before you attend any auction.

9. Set up an early call on completion day to your solicitor and request that your case is completed as soon as possible so that you don't have a long drawn out day.

10. On completion day, your solicitor or conveyancer may request that you pick the keys up from the Estate Agents office. This is to ensure that the property clear and ready for you to move into when the previous owner has departed from the property.

Having managed successful branches in Poole and Bournemouth with a corporate agent, David decided he wanted to do more with estate agency and be in a business where the customer is the focus, where we can improve the way the industry operates to customer needs, giving the customer a first-class personal experience delivered by a highly skilled agent.

Ian Donegan, Associate Director

Ian is an experienced Estate Agent with a passion to help people move on to their next chapter in their lives. He thrives in providing the highest standard of customer service to meet the needs of his clients, and is never afraid to go the extra mile.

Ian began his property career in 2012 with an international corporate agency in Prague, Czechia. This exposure to property on an international stage sparked a passion within him. After his move to England and holding various management positions within the customer service sector, in 2016 he returned to what he loves doing the most - Estate Agency. Over the years he has held numerous positions across the South Coast, proving he can work and manage many different aspects of business as well as gaining as much experience as possible within the property industry. In his own words 'My job is my passion'.

Outside of work, Ian is a family man and loves spending time with his wife Laura and daughter Klara. He also enjoys being active and plays football every Wednesday, and loves to start his day by being active in the gym to focus his mind for the day ahead.

Prior to joining the Meyers Southbourne & Christchurch team, Valentine worked in the financial industry for well over a decade. Having worked in the leadership team for a large corporate bank where customers are often seen as just a number, Valentine wanted to move away from the corporate world into a more rewarding role where customers are local, and the aim is to deliver a first-class, personal yet professional experience.

Outside of work, Valentine spends most of her time running around after her two little boys. When time allows, Valentine loves nothing more than spending quality time, making memories, with family and friends.
